President’s Report

Mush!
Michael Leverone, D.V.M., ’74 takes a break from his furry patients in Massachusetts to tend to elite sled dogs in Alaska, and loves every minute of it.
By Genevieve Rajewski and Rebecca Smith ’99

The New Nuncio

Flashback: He Was One of Us
In a special Flashback, HCM talks to alumni who were on campus the day of the Kennedy assassination.

Profile: Erika Bearman ’03
She’s worked for Armani, Burberry and Christian Dior. But now, this alumna’s heart belongs to Oscar—de la Renta, of course.
By Michael Hardy

They Do Not Forget Michael P. Quinn
Michael Quinn ’68 was a friendly, easy-going student who became a tough-as-nails defenseman when he laced up his skates for Crusader hockey. His death in Vietnam the year after he graduated from Holy Cross shook all who knew him. For 44 years, Quinn’s hometown buddies in Charlestown, Mass., have been honoring him by helping send one of their own off to college. Christopher O’Brien ’94 was one of those students, and now he helps to keep the Quinn legacy alive.
By John W. Geran ’65

Your Turn: Behind “Opening Doors”
English Professor Helen Whall joined the faculty in 1976. We asked her to pen this issue’s Your Turn essay to offer her reflections on this year’s 40th anniversary of coeducation and celebration of women at Holy Cross.
