Thomas M. Cadigan and Office of Alumni Relations, College of the Holy Cross

The planting of commemorative trees, as well as trees for shade and beauty, has long been a tradition at Holy Cross. The campus has (literally) expanded and developed around them. Several trees honor former students, faculty, administrators and distinguished visitors - they tell a story of how these people helped to shape the College into what it is today. This virtual tour highlights some of these trees and the people - and stories - they represent.

Pakachoag: Where the River Bends
Thomas Doughton, Colin Novick, Sarah Luria, and Ian Kaloyanides
This film documents the history of the relationship between the Nipmuc people and the College of the Holy Cross, beginning with the purchase of land by Father James Fitton and Bishop Benedict Joseph Fenwick, S.J. on Pakachoag Hill. It explores the forgotten history of the College and its relationship to the indigenous people while challenging the romanticized or inaccurate ways in which the Nipmuc people have been portrayed.
