Abstract
The subject of this thesis is Balinese shadow puppet theatre. The author looks specifically at the role of the voice and vocal music by examining a wayang kulit performance held August 19, 1999 in Senganan, Bali. She also explores the role, responsibilities, and privileges of the dalang in the context of this ceremonial play.
