Abstract
In the spring of 2022, Amanda Wilderman ‘22 and Bri Barnes ‘23, who both minored in Deaf Studies and Sign Language, produced the first College of the Holy Cross campus virtual tour conducted using American Sign Language (ASL). The three part tour includes aspects of academic life, student life and Jesuit identity.
As part of this production, the students interviewed Rev. Joseph Bruce, SJ, curator of the Deaf Catholic Archives which is housed at Holy Cross. The interview explores the creation of the Deaf Catholic Archives and examines the importance of preserving Deaf Catholic history. The ASL tour project was supported by the Holy Cross Admissions Office and Professor Stephanie Clark and Professor Ying Li from the Deaf Studies and Sign Languages Program.
