Abstract
Trois femmes puissantes (Three strong women) tells the stories of three women struggling with their own destinies. The novel contains three stories of romantic relationships, of families and of immigration. Even if, from a social or professional standpoint, these women do not have the same status, they all have within them a strength allowing them to free themselves from their respective situations of oppression. This study aims to illustrate that the human condition is at the centre of each story, connected one another by a recurring theme: the inner strength motivating each woman. Through an introspective writing, Marie NDiaye questions the human conscience, explores the torments of the inner self, as well as the capacity within each of us to resist and survive.
