Abstract
L'étrange Destin de Wangrin is the narration of Wangrin's life from birth to death. The latter being the character round which everything moves, his study enable to acquire a good knowledge of the book. His personality presents aptitudes intellectual as well as moral. Intelligence, kindness and generosity are his qualities, cheating, cupidity and thirst of money his failings. He doesn't hesitate to enrich himself to the prejudice of those who are wealthy and takes advantage of the misfortunes of other people to make his own fortune. He proves to really master his fate although non absolutely being partially dependant on the force that dominate his country and on occult powers. He believes in the revelation of the invisible through the visible as well as the transformation of the visible by the invisible. Faithful adherent of Gongoloma-Sooke, the god of contraries, he is at once superstitious and unbeliever when he likes. His philosophy is one of considered action. His dynamism procures a great fortune for him. But when he was bankrupted, he didn't loose his personality and remained equal to himself. Wangrin embodies the model of man proposed to Africa by philosophers, the latter is the contrary of the Negro described by the negritude. His qualities are the following : dynamism, lucidity, intelligence, liberty, rationality, objectivity.
