Description
In this session, we will look at the impact of technology on teaching and learning at Holy Cross over the past 175 years and predict future changes. While modern digital technologies emerged since World War II, with acceleration in recent years, we will take a broad definition of techne to look back much further, considering how innovation has changed education. Dr. Keohane, as the Chief Information Officer at the College, will also preview significant trends in technology, such as automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning, that are likely to make higher education much different in the years to come. “Alexa,” Smart homes, self-driving cars... How will these new technologies, that are quickly changing our personal lives, transform Holy Cross in the years ahead? Will we recognize the classroom of the next 175 years? (We might not look that far!)
