Description

For nearly a century after its inception, photographers sought to create full-color images. Leopold Godowsky Jr. and Leopold Mannes, childhood friends and professional musicians, dissatisfied with what they perceived as crude optical systems of replicating color, decided to formulate a new chemical process. By utilizing the manufacturing precision offered by Kodak’s production facilities, Godowsky and Mannes were able to surpass all existing methods and created Kodachrome, the first commercially successful color film for the consumer market. In this session, using a blend of digital and darkroom techniques, we will recreate some of “God and Man’s” early photographic experiments and create full-color images from black-and-white originals.
