Description

What is a galaxy? Do we have any idea about how many galaxies there are in the universe? Are galaxies isolated objects? Do galaxies change over time? Are there properties that all galaxies share? How have we learned so much about galaxies in the last hundred years? How have we determined the properties of our own galaxy, the Milky Way? What do galaxies tell us about the universe? Are there things about galaxies that we do not yet understand? Are there things about the universe that we do not yet understand? Has all that we have learned in the last 100 years about galaxies and the universe reduced the mystery in which we are immersed?
