ABiGaLe/Allies is a Gay-Straight Alliance dedicated to raising awareness about LGBTQ issues to the Holy Cross community. ABiGaLe/Allies promotes and facilitates education, discussion, and dialogue about both the culture and the issues faced by gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (GLBTQ) students at Holy Cross; provides a necessary voice on campus, furthering acceptance and awareness of the GLBTQ community at Holy Cross; sustains an active and supportive community for the GLBTQ students at Holy Cross; and counters homophobic attitudes and behavior and thereby create a safer environment for the GLBTQ community at Holy Cross Allies was founded in November of 1995 as the first student run organization of its kind at a Jesuit Institution of Higher Education. ABiGaLe - the Association of Bisexuals, Gays, and Lesbians was founded in 1998 to meet the needs of a growing campus to show awareness that an LGB community existed on campus along with straight allies. In the fall of 2010, the groups were combined to form ABiGaLe/Allies to again meet the current needs of the campus. In 2016, Abigale/Allies became Pride, and focused on raising awareness of issues related to LGBTQ students, furthering acceptance and providing support for Holy Cross students of all sexual orientations.
